PLATT COLLEGE PRESENTS THE TOP 10 STUDENT & ALUMNI DESIGNS FROM February 2015

It’s time for another showcase featuring some of our most popular student designs according to Instagram likes and comments. If you follow us on Instagram you know that we like to share art, video production projects, 3D animations, and designs from our talented digital media design students and alumni almost daily! It’s a great way to show off all the hard work our students put into not only their class projects, but any side projects they are working on as well.

#1 -Platt College Web Design student Ariele Schimm created this fun and vibrant responsive website for the Color Run. This project was created for her Responsive Web Design class which teaches students the principles behind delivering web-based content and interactivity to multiple devices. Nice work Ariele! #2 – Platt College student Robin Ramos designed this beautiful banner for one of San Diego’s most popular locations, Seaport Village. This was a project she created for her Term 2 Illustrator class. Great job Robin! You can view more of Robin’s work on Behance.

#3 – Platt College alumni Juan Fernando Garcia, who was one of our guest speakers at the industry panel event last month, created this fun illustration. Juan shared his valuable knowledge about his experiences working in the design industry at the event. One of which was to learn to be versatile and flexible with your designs. One minute you could be designing something for My Little Pony the next it could be something completely different. Great advice! Thanks for visiting us Juan! #4 – Platt College graphic design student Samara Zabala recently created this epic surreal self portrait. This was a project for her Term 2 Photoshop class in which students learn to composite multiple images to create a surreal scene. Great job Samara! You can view more work from her on Behance.

#5 – Platt College 3D Animation student Frederic Blanco modeled his own version of Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon for his Term 6 Advanced Character Modeling class. He utilized Autodesk Maya 2014 and Pixologic Zbrush 4R6 to create the character. It was then rendered in Zbrush and composited in After Effects. Nice work Frederic! #6 – Platt College Visual Effects Alumni, Raphael Linhares, created this short compositing clip to show how he transformed a mountain scene into a different landscape. The VFX for this project was created using multiple techniques in Adobe After Effects. Nice work Raphael! ‪You can view more of his work on Vimeo.

#7 – A group of our Platt College Video Production students put together this fun vintage styled short film titled Half-Baked Plan. The film is about a young baker who must face a mafia boss in order to save his mother and get sweet revenge. This was a project for our Term 6 Advanced Digital Video Production class. #9 – Platt College 3D Animation student Dave Hyatt used ZBrush, Maya & After Effects to bring this detailed Piranhaman character to life. This is a project students complete in our Term 6 Digital Character Sculpting class. Great job Dave! You can view more creative projects from Dave on Vimeo.

#10 – Platt College 3D Animation alumni, Amber Bouley, created this geisha beauty for her Term 6 Advanced Modeling class. She used a combination of software such as Maya, ZBrush and Mudbox. Nice work Amber! You can view more work from her on Behance.
