Platt College Hosts Behance Portfolio Reviews!
In the growing world of social media there are still few options for creatives to get the word out about their work and make new connections with other designers in the industry. But there is one site in particular called Behance, that has created a wonderful platform for creatives from all over the world to showcase their work and possibly even find their next job opportunity! With Fortune 500 companies like Apple and Amazon recruiting designers through this site, it’s further encouragement for the students here at Platt College San Diego to start showcasing their work on this social media platform.
Recently, Platt College partnered with Behance to host our first ever Behance Portfolio Review event on May 17th. This event was an excellent opportunity for San Diego designers, current students, alumni and employers to network and share their creative portfolios all through the Behance website!
To kick off the event we reached out to Social Media Expert and San Diego local, James Hickey, to be our keynote speaker. His knowledge on social media and branding yourself online as a creative was a great way to start the day. From there we introduced our VIP panel of industry professionals that included employees from Sony Online, LJG Partners, Session Wise, Retail Habitats and even several of our Platt College teachers. These VIP’s met one on one with our students to give them helpful and honest feedback on their portfolio work.
While students took turns meeting with our VIP’s they were also split up in to individual groups to present with a small group of peers to share their work and receive useful feedback as well. After the presentations were completed most of the guests stayed for networking and refreshments in our courtyard. This gave the students more opportunities to talk to the VIP industry professionals, as well as other San Diego creatives who found out about our event through Behance, Meetup.com and Facebook.
Platt College was thrilled to be able to organize such a fun and inspiring event for local San Diego creatives and our students. Be sure to follow us on Facebook to stay informed about future events here at Platt.
