Several Platt Alumni involved in the creation of Marvel’s latest film release, The Avengers, include Alumni Kris Baldwin, Josh Swanson, Joshua Deason, Dylan Sanchez and Darren Horwege. In addition to the Avengers, Joshua Deason, Compositing Artist at Stereo D, has worked on other films recently released, such as: Titanic 3D and Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. Included in this year’s Comic Con line up was a panel hosted by Marvel. Attendees of this year’s Comic Con were lucky enough to view sneak previews of the next set of films following the Avengers storyline: including the highly anticipated Iron Man 3, Thor 2 and Captain America 2.
Another Platt alumnus Eugene Paluso, VFX Artist, is no stranger to working on major films that have been represented at San Diego’s Comic-Con. The most recent being the summer blockbuster Prometheus, as well as Snow White and the Huntsman, Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, Battle for Los Angeles, Avatar, Skyline and Marvel’s X-Men Origins: Wolverine. When asked about his experience at Platt College Eugene stated, “One of the best decisions I ever made was to attend Platt College San Diego.”
Tyler Philips, an Animator for DreamWorks Films and Platt San Diego alumnus, has added Madagascar 3 this year to his list of successful films since graduating from Platt. When Tyler was asked about his success since attending Platt he expressed, “I’m currently working at DreamWorks Animation as a character animator and I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for everything I learned at Platt and the experience I gained along the way. Platt completely laid down the foundation for everything I’ve learned since and made it that much easier to go where I wanted.”
Tyler has also worked on Puss in Boots, Mega Mind 3D, God of War III, Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs and Hostel: Part II.
In San Diego, the current Platt College Digital Media Design students daydream and are filled with the excitement of one day seeing their hard work and creations included in the fantastic experience that is San Diego’s Comic-Con. Among the buzz of zombies, costumed characters, famous Comic Con attendees and celebrities, one can be certain that Platt College San Diego designers will be an important part of this exciting Convention.
