The Platt College San Diego #LightsCameraRedesign Contest 2016
If you’re anything like us—and as certifiable film fanatics, you probably are—you’ve probably broken down every element of your favorite movie ad infinitum. You’ve seen each of the movie’s posters and you have one version that you prefer there, too. But even if you think it’s the best movie ever made, admit it: you’ve thought of ways you might tweak it.
Maybe you’ve even created your own redesign of the poster. Who are you kidding? We know you have!
Well, we want to see it.
The #LightsCameraRedesign Contest is a photo and art submission contest for students—anyone age 13 and up who is either in high school or recently graduated. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to create an original poster for your favorite movie and submit it. This is your chance to show us and the rest of the world your unique vision for your favorite movie, whether it’s an old classic or a new blockbuster film.
Can you design something better? We’re banking on it!
The contest will run from May 16 th through June 15 th , and the winner will be picked by June 22nd. One winner will win a free one-week scholarship to the Platt College San Diego summer workshop. Upgrading from summer school to the Platt College San Diego summer workshop is like trading in a rusty old beach bike for a Bugati roadster. The Platt workshop offers week long, introductory summer camp courses in 3D modeling, digital filmmaking, and Photoshop. Each week of fundamental hands-on experience trains high school students and recent grads in the most critically important industry software programs and techniques used today.
You’ll come away from the program really knowing how to work with the programs and tools you trained on and creating amazing new projects. You’re going to love what you get out of the workshop!
What’s in it for us?
First of all, having the most talented, awesome students in our workshops makes them better for everyone. Anyone who can impress the judges with an original poster is going to get a lot out of the workshop, and is also going to have a lot to offer. We’re also confident that you’re going to love our program so much that you’ll strongly consider coming back! So as you can see, it’s basically a win-win.
The contest is open to anyone 13 years of age or older who has public Facebook and Instagram accounts. They have to be public so you can submit your designs. Here’s how it works.
First, create an original piece of artwork recreating your favorite movie poster. Next, upload it onto the #LightsCameraRedesign Facebook tab submission form or post a photo of your creation on Instagram with the hashtag #LightsCameraRedesign. After the contest closes we’ll look at all of the submissions and pick the winner of the #LightsCameraRedesign contest. Then, just wait until we announce the winners.
