And the Winner Is….
The students and alumni here at Platt College San Diego recently had the exciting opportunity to participate in a logo design contest hosted by the College Area Business District. If you’re familiar with the college area you may have heard of their annual event called the College Area Taste. However this year they wanted to go a different direction with the event and rebrand it as the College Area Food Experience (CAFE). This was a great opportunity for us to partner up with the local community to help with the redesign.
The students were given a little over 2 weeks to create up to 3 different logo concepts for a shot at winning the $300 grand prize and the chance to design the rest of the collateral materials for the event.
We had 10 different students and alumni submit their design concepts, many of them submitting multiple designs. Jim Schneider, the Executive Director for the College Area Business District had this to say about the logos they received, “The committee was very impressed with the professionalism that was displayed for all submissions. I truly enjoyed working with Platt College.”
The winning logo was designed by Platt College Graphic Design student Chelsea Laven. This was her winning logo design that will be used in all of their marketing materials for the event coming up this May. She will also be given the opportunity to design the rest of the collateral materials for the event. Congratulations Chelsea!
They also selected a runner up for the contest, Platt College Graphic Design student Jonathan Benavidez, was close with this great logo design. He will be receiving 2 free tickets to attend the College Area Food Experience ( a $50 value ) for this creative submission. Congratulations Jonathan!
We know that all of the students who submitted work for the contest put their best effort forth and although their logos weren’t chosen they are definitely worth sharing. We hope this was an enjoyable experience for all the students who participated and will provide them with something that will be a nice addition to their portfolios.
