Andrea, your non-profit organization Kids Saving The World sounds amazing. Can you tell us about it?
Andrea
It was started by my ten-year-old son who wanted to start his own YouTube channel. I told to him to pitch me a good idea and we would talk about it. Side Note: (I told him it could not be a gaming channel). I made a video of him talking about his ideas, we posted it on Facebook and within two hours forty kids signed up.
Nicole
Wow, tell us more.
Andrea
The channel is about kids inspiring kids to make big changes in the world. We get together weekly with these awesome kids and talk about serious issues and how we can help in local communities. It started off with getting PCSD video students as volunteers to help with this amazing project, and it has expanded. Now instructors and graphic design students are contributing to the cause!
Here is a montage and glimpse of what we are doing at Kids Saving the World:

How does Kids Saving the World empower kids and build their own self-confidence?
Andrea
We focus on issues such as the homeless, animals, the environment, and more. Next, we find other organizations that already help with those issues and go volunteer with them. What I have noticed is that we can teach them about these issues in the classroom, but they are not getting a hands-on experience or a real-world insight into these issues. I have witnessed that it is more powerful when they go out into the community. Kids are honing in on their powers and channeling them to help make the world a better place. Kids have more power than they think they do. Through Kids Saving the World they are given a platform and they feel like they have a voice all while having fun, building leadership and team skills.
Nicole
Why did you choose a YouTube channel to share their voices?
Andrea
Video reaches the masses. Through the use of video and new technology, they are discovering that they can speak to kids and adults all over the world. They are unearthing their potential and recognizing how fun yet, valuable it is to to use this outlet to make big changes. They are truly becoming kids saving the world.
Nicole
So, word has it, Kids Saving The World will be appearing on the news. Can you give us more information about that?
Andrea
Keep on an eye out and tune in to Channel 8 News on Monday, August 27th at 7:45 am. Kids Saving The World will be discussing the organization, our participation in the upcoming KidPreneur Expo and our future endeavors.
